Installation Considerations

The installation and commissioning of fire extinguishers is necessary for any business and should be done by a qualified / experienced fire extinguishers service engineer.

  • Do you have enough fire extinguishers?

  • What heights to install them at?

  • Do you have the right type of fire extinguishers?

  • Is the correct signage in place

Do fire extinguishers need to be commissioned?

According to BS5306-3:2009, a competent person must complete the commissioning of new extinguisher's.

Onsite commissioning is the only way to comply with current standards. The engineer will be taking responsibility that the extinguisher is safe and fit for purpose.

Pre serviced extinguishers may seem convenient, they also do not comply with the current standards.

On site commissioning is the only way to establish if the extinguisher has been damaged in transit, faults that could occur could be pressure loss, hose, handle or can damage.
