Frequently asked questions
How often should a fire risk assessment be reviewed?
The law says it must be kept under review. In practice, most premises should be reviewed at least annually, and sooner after any significant change, such as building work, a new layout, a change of use or a fire incident.
Do I need a written assessment?
If you employ five or more people, or your premises are licensed or subject to an alterations notice, you must record the significant findings. We recommend a written assessment for all businesses, as it’s the best evidence of compliance.
Can I do my own?
Legally you can, if you are competent. In practice, many Responsible Persons choose a professional because an assessment must be thorough and defensible.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the size and complexity of the premises. Contact us for a fixed-price quote.
